If you are still reading and If you are not into technical stuff then look away now.. I use the FileMaker platform (Claris / Apple company) to build the databases, browser interface and mobile apps.
I use Javascript within FileMaker to extend it. For standard Web forms I use HTML, CSS, JS and PHP on the server side, all connected to FileMaker data via a REST API.
